how to wear a men's sweater

With the temps steadily dropping, the one thing I want to do is snuggle up in a good sweater. And what defines a "good" sweater? For me it's oversized and super soft. And I surprisingly find a lot of these "good" sweaters in the men's department. Yup, I shop the men's section for sweaters and button downs.
While at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago, I found a cardigan I knew I had to have. It's a size 3X but oversized pieces are easy and fun to dress up.

Though most of my wardrobe is secondhand, I love adding in a few new pieces. So when the folks over a ModDeals, a new affordable online store for clothes and accessories, contacted me, I was anxious to see what their pieces looked and felt like. I'm all about affordability but quality always reigns supreme.I ordered a few pieces using the $40 gift card they provided and was so glad I did so. From jeans to dresses to shoes, everything on the ModDeals' site is less than $15 and I've worn the clothes for over a month now and I love the quality.I'm all about fun, flirty dresses, so naturally I ordered the Coco Love Voile Dress, which has a pussy bow and pleats. Just my style! Though I love dresses, sometimes they feel a bit too dressy, especially when I'm not doing anything all that fancy.

Looking Fly on a Dime thrifty threads 365Can you believe it's been a year already?! Exactly one year ago today, I started phase two of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge, a full year where I only buy secondhand clothes and spend $50 or less per month. For the past year, I've shown you my Thrifty Thread outfits as well as a tally of how much I've spent each month.
For the month of September, I spent....zero dollars! Seriously, I didn't spend a penny on clothes or accessories last month. I've been way too busy with work to shop {woe is me!}. Oh, and I'm prepping for The Today Show next week {but more on that in a few days}.
And over the past year, I only spent $460 on clothes. Yup, an entire year's wardrobe for less than 500 bucks.
And with that $460, I've snagged some great pieces...

thrifty threads 365, looking fly on a dimeAnother month down, so it’s time to recap my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I only thrift shop for clothes and accessories, no new items}. My budget for each month is $50 and how much did I spend for the month of August? *drum roll* Exactly $0. Yup, zero.

I seriously didn't realize I went the entire month without shopping for clothes until I went to pull out my receipts for the previous month. There was plenty of evidence from dining out {I eat out way too much, trying to curb that}, but not a single receipt from Goodwill, Salvation Army, Housing Works or any secondhand store for a clothes purchase. I thought this had to be a mistake, maybe I threw some receipts away. But after racking my brain, I realized I didn't buy any clothes for the month.However,...

thrifty threads 365 challenge, shopping challengeI have a problem. A serious problem. For as long as I can remember, I've rarely, if ever, been able to wear white without getting a stain on it. I always manage to spill a drink, get an ink stain or rub up against something. Due to this, I stay away from wearing white.

But I decided to stop letting that fear keep me from rocking the fresh, crisp hue. While thrift shopping in San Francisco, I found a vintage Adidas tennis skirt I desperately wanted. It fit me perfectly, but it was white. But it was also crazy cheap {the threads at Clothes Contact are $10 per pound}. I bought it and I'm so glad I did.I finally wore the mini with some bright additions while in New Orleans earlier this summer.
