Essence Music Festival fashion event

Yesterday I gave you the inside dish on the vintage dress I wore to my Best Dressed Madame soiree while I was at Essence Music Festival in New Orleans and now it's time for the event recap. The night was full of fun, giveaways and some amazing costumes. Hosted at May Baily's Bar at the Dauphine Hotel, we took a cue from the past to come up with some cheeky games. The bar used to be a brothel {they still have a red light on outside!} so we asked ladies to come dressed up in feathers, boas, glam gowns or anything that made them feel sexy.

A few weeks ago I dipped in to Target for some ice cream and of course I had to check the clothes out. Nothing really caught my eye, but as I made my way to the frozen food aisle, I spotted a pair of camo shorts. But the shorts weren't in the women's department. They were in the little boy's section.
I grabbed the biggest size available and hit the fitting room.

I'm so excited to announce I'll be hosting an event during this year's Essence Music Festival. I had a blast year {check out one of my style posts from NOLA}, so I had to return for the 2013 festivities for a little R&R and to celebrate my birthday.My girl Carmen of Lipstick Fashion Mascara and I will be the MC's for Best Dressed Madame on Wednesday, July 3 at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel.
