looking fly on a dime, housing works buy the bag sale

I've always been a fan of bright denim, even before it was trendy. Well, I'm a fan of bright anything, so when I found a pair of purple jeans at the Housing Works Buy the Bag sale, I threw them in the bag. Instead of pairing with a simple black top, I threw on the vintage silk top {also from the Housing Works sale} and a canary yellow Banana Republic cardigan. The colder weather is no excuse to store away the bold colors. I realized my entire outfit, accessories included, was thrifted. The entire look was less than $20.

At the beginning of October I informed you guys I'm starting my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge again. Last year I completed the challenge of only thrift shopping for an entire year and this time I upped the ante by putting myself on a $50 a month thrift budget. Well, the month has come to an end, so did I stick to the budget? Well of course I did! For the month of October I spent $48 on clothes. The Housing Works Buy the Bag sale is where I really racked up. For $25, I stuffed 30 items in my shopping bag, which included vintage tops, a sequin jacket and even a pair of Armani pants.

Housing Works Buy the bag, thrift store haul

I know this is super last minute but I'll be having an Adventures in Thrifting meetup tomorrow {10/22}. I didn't think I'd be able to make the final Buy the Bag sale from Housing Works, but it looks like I can. You guys know what Buy the Bag is, right? It's the warehouse sale by Housing Works where you can get an entire bag of clothing for just $25. Yup, $25 for all the clothes you can stuff in a bag. I'm on the hunt for cute tops and...

Anytime someone asks me how I would describe my style, I tend to say casual chic or dressy casual. On most occasions I don't like being too gussied up but I also love a few stand out pieces. Dressy trousers tend to make me think of a stuffy corporate environment, which is totally not my style, but I found a pair that I had to have during O So Chic's clothing swap party. Instead of rocking the pants as is, I cuffed them up and threw on a bright top and sparkly shoes for a more relaxed look. I love how the red/burnt orange Gucci top I snagged for $1 at the Goodwill Outlet stands out with the pants. Yes, Gucci for $1! Be sure to check in your area to see if there's an Outlet near you, clothes are priced by the pound and you can walk away with great deals.

You guys know what time it is? It's the start of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge again. Last year I embarked on a task to only buy thrifted clothing and accessories for a full year. I successfully completed the challenge and now I'm back at it again. Starting October 1, 2011, Thrifty Threads 365 Part II is in full affect. For another 365 days I will only purchase clothes and accessories from thrift stores. Of course there are a few exceptions. I can buy new underwear and accept gifts of...
