Thrifty Threads 365 Challenge – Month One Review

At the beginning of October I informed you guys I’m starting my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge again. Last year I completed the challenge of only thrift shopping for an entire year and this time I upped the ante by putting myself on a $50 a month thrift budget. Well, the month has come to an end, so did I stick to the budget? Well of course I did! For the month of October I spent $48 on clothes.

The Housing Works Buy the Bag sale is where I really racked up. For $25, I stuffed 30 items in my shopping bag, which included vintage tops, a sequin jacket and even a pair of Armani pants.

While at the Salvation Army {my favorite location is 46th St. in NYC}, I came across a pair of red flats with tassels. I’m more of a stiletto girl, but these vintage Vittorio Ricci flats were so cool and different, I had to have them.

And I racked up quite a few points on my Goodwill Rewards Card so I was ready to redeem them. If you don’t have one of these handy cards, check with your local Goodwill to see if they offer it. In the NYC area, you get a $10 off coupon after spending $100. At the Goodwill in the West Village, I found a sparkly belt with a bow and a dainty gold bracelet. They totaled $4 after my discount.

And over at the Goodwill on East 23rd St., I nabbed a strapless blue mini that I can winterize with tights and a blazer and an Asian inspired tunic. Total? Just $10 after my coupon.
