Last week I celebrated the big 2-8 and wanted to rock a fierce pair of heels. If I'm wearing a dramatic shoe, the rest of my look is pretty subdued. I went for an all black attire so my floral strap sandals were the center of attention. Last weekend was crazy hot on the east coast so I wanted a look that was casual (i.e. nothing clingy) but of course, still cute.I don't think I've ever worn cargo pants (I'm more of a skinny jeans kinda gal), but I was determined to work them in my wardrobe somehow. Pairing the cargos with a feminine top kept the outfit from being a little too rugged. I rolled the hem up and threw on some platform pumps to complete the look. It's Friday so that means another round of Thrifty Threads where I showcase my frugal fashion finds.I went to a celebration for Tanqueray's 200th anniversary and I wanted a look that was casual with dressy accents, which is my overall style. I decided to go with an all white ensemble and just spiff it up with accessories. Last week I was seriously craving Mexican food and remembered my old stomping grounds of Astoria, Queens (that’s where I first lived when I moved to NY). At El Cafetal, the food is cheap, good and cheap! The taco meals are all under $10 and keep you full for hours.

If you’re ever in the area you should definitely check it out for some cheap eats. What’s even better is the restaurant is right next to a thrift store, The Second Best Thrift Shop, that has tons of great furniture.

For this week's thrifty threads I wanted a look that was fairly basic (black skirt*) with a pop of color. I found the skirt during my last Goodwill venture. The lilac top is from Gap's Superfine collection and ultra soft. Though I'm not a huge fan of purple, the cut out sandals by Miss Me are one of the faves in my closet.
