This past weekend I had an exhilarating, awesome, yet exhausting experience at the Salvation Army. You already know I love the Salv {as evidenced in my hauls here and here} but this weekend was the mega Coat Sale. This was my first time attending and it certainly lived up to the hype.Not familiar with the Salvation Army Coat sale? It's held a few times a year and racks upon racks of coats {furs, trenches, bombers, shearlings, etc} are up for grabs. Prices range from $8-$50, depending on length and material.

{cart of coats}

After an hour and a half of shopping around, I had about 10 or 15 coats, which I eventually whittled down to five. My grand total was $93.94.Click more to see what I scored and a few tips if you plan on buying a thrifted coat.

I'm really enjoying my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I don't purchase any new clothing} but one draw back is I never know what the inventory at a thrift store is going to be like. I've been on the hunt for chunky sweaters for the past month but always left empty handed...until last Wednesday.I hit up my favorite Salvation Army in NYC {46th St. between 10th and 11th} and walked away with a few sweaters that are perfect for the colder weather. Wednesdays are Family Day where all clothing and shoes are 50 percent off.

{i can't wait to layer this over a pair of leggings and boots. $3.50}

{this DKNY men's sweater would go great with a pair of skinny jeans. $3}

Last Sunday was pretty tame for me. I enjoyed an awesome service at church, made a hearty lunch and then I checked in to twitter and noticed Goodwill (@GoodwillNyNj) was having a 50 percent off sale at one of the locations near me. I had no intention of shopping on this lazy Sunday, but I felt like this was I sign. I had to drop off a donation anyway and the store was just 3 blocks from my house. I figured I'd just browse.Of course, that didn't happen. But this time something different happened. I walked away without a single item of clothing, but scored some other great stuff.

{the print and gold heel immediately caught my eye. $5}

{i love the sheer panels on the side of these BCBG heels. $5}
