The weather on the east coast is pretty brutal. Apartment dwelling means I don't have to shovel but with more than a foot of snow, my dilemma is what to wear? I attended a birthday party yesterday and I didn't have to dress up but I didn't want to step in the room wearing clunky snow boots either.I pulled a few wardrobe staples {blazer and pleated skirt} from my closet and wore them in a different way.My striped J. Crew blazer has seen plenty of wear but this time I wanted to button and belt it, something I'd normally never do. I hiked my skirt up a bit so the proportions with the blazer didn't look too off.Since footwear was a major issue {due to massive snow piles}, I threw on my tall Payless boots. They have a slight heel {because Patrice doesn't party in flats, gasp!}, but the rubber sole kept me firmly planted on the ground.It wasn't until I did a final look in the mirror that I realized my whole look (minus accessories) was thrifted.Click more to see the price breakdown and read up on a thrift shopping tidbit.

I've mentioned the Housing Works $20 All You Can Stuff sale before {check out what I snagged on my last visit: I stuffed 38 items in my bag for $20}. And it's here again. If you're in NYC, Housing Works is having another sale on Saturday, 1/29.A little background on the sale: you enter a large room full of thrifted treasures, dig through bins and whatever you can stuff in a brown paper bag {the kind you'd get at the grocery store} is yours for just $20. And there's no limit to the number of bags you can buy.Amazing, right? I've walked away from these sales with a Theory military jacket, Chanel pumps and Prada bag.Click more to read up on some tips for shopping the massive sale.

I finally got some of my Salvation Army coat sale items back from the cleaners and the first thing I had to wear was my fur vest. I've been obsessed with fur vests since Rachel Zoe started rocking them. However, I wasn't willing to drop the cash on the real deal and I never found a faux option I had to have.But lo and behold, I found a real fur vest at the Salvation Army sale a few weeks ago. It's super soft and has a great silk lining. I easily incorporated the luxe piece in to my typical winter wardrobe {skinny jeans and boots}.

{a vest with pockets? score!}
