how to thrift shop, where to thrift shop

You guys have been asking and I'm finally {sorry for the delay!} answering. I've scheduled my first Adventures in Thrifting Tour of the year.If you've never been thrift shopping or thrifting in New York City and are unsure of where to go, then this tour is for you. If you want to get personalized shopping tips and fashion advice from yours truly, then this tour is really for you.

I'm having a love affair with sweatshirts {see my last Thrifty Threads: Sweatshirt Chic post}. This is pretty strange for me because I normally think of sweatshirts as being frumpy and sloppy. But I've seen the error of my ways.
So when I came across a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt at the press preview for the Housing Works Buy the Bag shop in Brooklyn, I knew I had to have it. And when I looked at the label, I realized it was vintage! Not bad seeing as how it cost about $1 {a bag full of clothing is just 25 bucks and I was able to stuff about 20 pieces in a singel bag}.

thrift shopping mistakes, how to thrift shop
Thrift shopping is too hard. I never know where to shop. Why don't I find anything good?
These are just some of the comments and questions I hear from those who want to get in to thrift shopping but haven't really been able to get the hang of it. I understand it's not for everyone {the inventory can be hot or cold and all stores aren't created equally}, but trust me, thrift shopping is something everyone, and I do mean everyone can do. It's economical, green and a great way to cultivate an individual sense of style.
Though I've done tons of posts on thrift shopping 101 and FAQ, I'm notice people running in to the same problems and luckily, I have the solutions.

As much as I love to dress up, I hate to admit that leggings are my go-to threads when I'm having a casual day. From black to brown to lime green, I have them in every color. They're ultra comfy and pair well with a chunky sweater or layered shirts.
But leggings can also be kind of blah and boring. Or at least that's what I thought until I came across a pair of Union Jack leggings.
It was love at first sight when I saw them online at Delia's.
