what to wear to the beach

I hate to admit it, but I'm not a huge fan of summer. Though I'm a summer baby {born on July 1!}, the hotter temps make me pretty cranky. But one thing I do love is a weekend at the beach. The sand and the water is so relaxing and I really love any excuse to slip in to a bikini. But keeping cool and looking hot can be a bit difficult when it's unbearably hot.On days when the mercury rises {we just had a heatwave on the East Coast}, my motto is keep it simple and head to the beach.

looking fly on a dime tv segment

Last week I filmed a fashion segment for the Better Show and it was all about Fourth of July fashion. The segment aired on Tuesday and if you missed it, check out the link below.Though it focused on fashionable and chic styles for a 4th of July BBQ, the clothes are wearable for any summer occasion. From how to incorporate prints to how to make a neutral dress pop, I covered a few easy ways to upgrade any style.

Name: Shelby Location: Michigan
When and why did you start thrift shopping? I have been into thrift shopping forever. Growing up it was a tradition to spend Saturdays shopping with my mother and grandmother. They would take me everywhere from malls, department stores, estate sales to thrift stores. Thrift shopping rubbed off on me naturally.
What three words would you use to describe your style? Vintage. Classy. Cute. How did you style your outfit {above}? I thrifted this Ralph Lauren shirt for $2.98. It is a young boy's shirt and the sleeves were way too short, but I knew I would wear it rolled up in a preppy style. The suspenders were thrifted for $1.98 from the men’s section and I purchased the skirt on sale at Target. The inspiration for this outfit came from seeing the suspenders, so I built upon them. Looking back I guess I was channeling Steve Urkel.

graphic print sneakersWhat: Simpsons Chuck Taylor All Star sneakersWhy: Everyone needs a fresh pair of bold kicks for the season.Unless I'm working out, I'm not much of a sneaker girl. But the one brand of sneakers I'll rock anytime, anyplace is a pair of Chucks. They have a classic, Americana feel and pair well with everything. So I was really excited and intrigued when I heard my favorite brand was releasing a collection with The Simpsons, the longest running scripted show in television history.
