What’s In Store: Dressbar at Dressbarn

Dressbarn. What comes to mind when you hear that name? For me it’s stuffy pantsuits, oversized florals and pretty much nothing I would wear. Well, I can admit when I’m wrong.
Dressbarn recently launched DRESSBAR, a collection of curated dresses from top designers which you can shop online, in store and in NYC, there’s a pop up shop {102 Fifth Ave.}.
I tried a few of the dresses out and here are the hits, misses and what you should check out.

I visited the Dressbar pop up last week and let me just say this, the space is amazing. Full of color, a candy bar, and even a photobooth, the space features designer collaborations from Luxe by Carmen Marc Valvo, Mixt by Heidi Weisel, Lovely by Adrianna Papell and the jewelry collection, True.
One of the first things that caught my eye was the jewelry. They ranged from dainty necklaces and rings to in-your-face statement pieces.

After that I devoted all of my attention to the dresses. If you’re searching for a summer frock for everyday wear or even a wedding, you might want to swing by Dressbar, which you can also shop online based on designer, style and occasion. And you’ll be happy to know many {if not all?} of the dresses are available in plus size.

I was super impressed with the quality and details, like the pleated, sheer Luxe by Carmen Marc Valvo and the Lovely by Adrianna Papell lace dress with jeweled detail.

But I was shocked at the prices. Dresses average $65 and the lace Adrianna Papell was $78. Eek. No way Dressbarn! I’ll wait until there’s a sale.

One dress that was a bit more affordable at $42 was this yellow, silky beauty that wasn’t actually from a designer collaboration, but a part of Dressbarn’s everyday label. There were some seams near the breasts that weren’t super flatteing, but I would definitely buy this if it was on sale. The fit was great, the color was vibrant and the style was just impeccable. You might notice the dress has an attached necklace. Well, that’s actually detachable!

Note: Though I appreciated the associates at Dressbar, they felt a bit overly attentive. There was a point when the curtain on my dressing room was a bit cracked. A sales associate peeked in and asked if I wanted help zipping up. Um, thanks for the offer, but get out of my dressing room!!! That made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I appreciated the help, but her putting her head inside my dressing room curtain while my back was exposed was a bit much.
Overall I was impressed with the Dressbar and it’s nice to see a store like Dressbarn getting in on the designer collaboration trend.
Check the DRESSBAR out online or at your local Dressbarn.
