Thrifty Threads – Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s LBD

It was announced a few months ago that Kohl’s was creating a DesigNation collection with Catherine Malandrino and it’s finally here. The Kohl’s for Catherine Malandrino line finally hits stores nationwide on Friday. I attended the preview this summer and my initial thoughts were: clean, chic and so Parisian. Kohl’s was gracious enough to send me a few pieces and they didn’t disappoint.

One of my favorite garments has to be fit and flare pleated dress. Seriously, this is what I’d call the ultimate little black dress for the season. You know when it’s a bit chilly out but not freezing? This sweater dress is the perfect fabric to keep the chill away without causing you to burn up. It’s wearable now and will work throughout fall and winter with tights.

But for now, I’m enjoying the dress with a bare leg and some bright accessories. And the pleated hem is meant for twirling.

Prima Donna bracelet, luxe for less

I kept the accessories pretty simple with a two-finger silver ring and a Prima Donna bracelet. This may be my new fave luxe for less line. The bold bracelet is less than $20 but makes a serious statement.

Next time I’ll probably wear a necklace with the dress {scoop necks and necklaces play well together}, but for now I went with a pair of dangle earrings from H&M. I scored these about a year ago and people can’t believe they were less than 10 bucks!

My only gripe about the dress is the material can get snagged very easily {you can see it in the photo above, at my right shoulder?}, like some sweaters tend to do. So just be careful with any bracelets or clasps that might get caught on it.

I had a little fun with my shoes by rocking the floral print Elle pumps from Kohl’s. Fall may be hear, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still wear bright florals.

The Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s line is full of black and white dresses, skirts, shirts and sweaters. Though the color palette is pretty muted, it’s all about the details, like stripes, cutouts, sheer and pleats. Prices start at $30 and top out at $130.

Head to Kohl’s or visit kohls.com when the line launches on the 27th. And you can check out the complete lookbook here.

Do you have your eye on any pieces in particular? Do you think the affordable collection stays true to Catherine Malandrino’s high end designs?

LOVE THIS!!! I like that the pieces are really simple but not boring. I can wear these to work and dress them up for later.

Thank you SO much for this post! I hadn’t heard about the collaboration (I’m not a big Kohl’s fan). All the items look tres chic! I ordered three items for myself, and a sweater for my sister (the one with the Eiffel Tower – she has them all over her house). It has been a while since I really felt excited about a collaboration. I would have been sad if I had missed this.
