I'm having a love affair with sweatshirts {see my last Thrifty Threads: Sweatshirt Chic post}. This is pretty strange for me because I normally think of sweatshirts as being frumpy and sloppy. But I've seen the error of my ways.
So when I came across a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt at the press preview for the Housing Works Buy the Bag shop in Brooklyn, I knew I had to have it. And when I looked at the label, I realized it was vintage! Not bad seeing as how it cost about $1 {a bag full of clothing is just 25 bucks and I was able to stuff about 20 pieces in a singel bag}.

As much as I love to dress up, I hate to admit that leggings are my go-to threads when I'm having a casual day. From black to brown to lime green, I have them in every color. They're ultra comfy and pair well with a chunky sweater or layered shirts.
But leggings can also be kind of blah and boring. Or at least that's what I thought until I came across a pair of Union Jack leggings.
It was love at first sight when I saw them online at Delia's.

A good heel, specifically a patent pump, is a must in every woman's wardrobe. But you know what a fall/winter footwear essential is? The flat boot. When it comes to versatility, there's nothing better than this gem. Rock it with skinny jeans or a fitted dress and it's suitable for a night out or an afternoon of running errands.I wanted to wear the Free People dress I picked up on my recent trip to TJ Maxx but since the frock is short and form fitting, I toned it down a bit with my trusty flat boots from Deb Shops.

how to wear a men's sweater

With the temps steadily dropping, the one thing I want to do is snuggle up in a good sweater. And what defines a "good" sweater? For me it's oversized and super soft. And I surprisingly find a lot of these "good" sweaters in the men's department. Yup, I shop the men's section for sweaters and button downs.
While at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago, I found a cardigan I knew I had to have. It's a size 3X but oversized pieces are easy and fun to dress up.

I previously posted about my love of Forever 21 jeans {they're still going strong after 3+ years without the dreaded crotch rip!}, but while shopping at TJ Maxx last week, I found a pair of jeans that are just as affordable and fit like a glove. Here's how the typical jean shopping scenario goes for me: find several pairs I love, they fit at the hips and thighs, but they're gaping at the waist!I'm on the petite side {5'2} but like most gals, I've got a little bit of hips, thighs and behind. And there's at least a 10 inch difference between my waist and hips, which makes finding jeans tough. But it turns out my luck changed with a pair of $16 skinnies by the brand Jalate.
