looking fly on a dime tv segment

Last week I filmed a fashion segment for the Better Show and it was all about Fourth of July fashion. The segment aired on Tuesday and if you missed it, check out the link below.Though it focused on fashionable and chic styles for a 4th of July BBQ, the clothes are wearable for any summer occasion. From how to incorporate prints to how to make a neutral dress pop, I covered a few easy ways to upgrade any style.

Thriftspiration is a weekly series that puts a spotlight on readers who share their secondhand shopping tips and fun ways to style thrifted finds.

how to thrift shop, thrift shopping tips

Name: Shelby Location: Michigan
When and why did you start thrift shopping? I have been into thrift shopping forever. Growing up it was a tradition to spend Saturdays shopping with my mother and grandmother. They would take me everywhere from malls, department stores, estate sales to thrift stores. Thrift shopping rubbed off on me naturally.
What three words would you use to describe your style? Vintage. Classy. Cute. How did you style your outfit {above}? I thrifted this Ralph Lauren shirt for $2.98. It is a young boy's shirt and the sleeves were way too short, but I knew I would wear it rolled up in a preppy style. The suspenders were thrifted for $1.98 from the men’s section and I purchased the skirt on sale at Target. The inspiration for this outfit came from seeing the suspenders, so I built upon them. Looking back I guess I was channeling Steve Urkel.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Target fall preview and as expected, it was amazing. This time around, Target allowed us to share photos of the upcoming collection before it hits stores. The pieces don't make their way to Target and target.com until August, so I'm glad I can actually share these with you. And trust me, you'll want to see these goods now so you can make a mental note of your must have items. While viewing the men's and women's pieces, a few things became very clear: prints are still going strong {tribal, ikat, camo} and faux leather accents will be your best friend. Though everything is trendy and fashion forward, they're also work appropriate. In between munching on light bites and sipping on OJ, I snapped a few pics. Take a peek at Target's upcoming fall line.
