looking fly on a dime tv segment

Last week I filmed a fashion segment for the Better Show and it was all about Fourth of July fashion. The segment aired on Tuesday and if you missed it, check out the link below.Though it focused on fashionable and chic styles for a 4th of July BBQ, the clothes are wearable for any summer occasion. From how to incorporate prints to how to make a neutral dress pop, I covered a few easy ways to upgrade any style.

graphic print sneakersWhat: Simpsons Chuck Taylor All Star sneakersWhy: Everyone needs a fresh pair of bold kicks for the season.Unless I'm working out, I'm not much of a sneaker girl. But the one brand of sneakers I'll rock anytime, anyplace is a pair of Chucks. They have a classic, Americana feel and pair well with everything. So I was really excited and intrigued when I heard my favorite brand was releasing a collection with The Simpsons, the longest running scripted show in television history.

Thriftspiration is a weekly series that puts a spotlight on readers who share their secondhand shopping tips and fun ways to style thrifted finds.
 thriftspiration, thrift store fashion
Name: Thrift Society Location: DC Metro Area
*This week's Thriftspiration is a bit different, as Thrift Society exclusively uses secondhand clothes for photo shoots.  All of the photos are from shoots they've styled with thrifty threads.
When and why did you start thrift shopping? When I was about five years old my grandma would take me to the "used store" and give me a few bucks so I could get what I wanted. I thought it was the coolest thing! When I got to high school I would look in fashion magazines for inspiration and recreate the look with mostly thrifted items.
What three words would you use to describe your style? My personal style is corporate, hippie and fashionista. As far as styling it depends on the vision for the shoot or the model.

summer dress, Target dressesWhat: Tevolio Strapless Wrap-Front Chiffon Maxi Dress from TargetWhy: A maxi is that one dress that works for women of all sizes. It's the go-to frock for an effortlessly chic look.Though this Target dress is intended to be for a bridesmaid, it's easily wearable for any occasion. It ranges in sizes from 2 to 28W, so whether you're petite or plus, you can look your best. It's also available in 10 colors like blue ocean {above}, Florida mango and sassy yellow. And this is a single item that you can wear now and in to fall {just throw on a light jacket to keep the chill away when the temps dip}.

how to mix prints, how to wear printsI constantly hear women say, "I could never wear that," and sometimes it's in regards to prints. I get it. Prints can be intimidating. They're busy. You never know what to wear them with and if not executed the right way, can look all wrong.

But let's ditch that thinking and settle this once and for all. You. Can. Mix. Prints.Depending on your style {casual, edgy, chic, etc.}, that determines how you'll want to wear them. Last week's Thriftspiration subject was Luna and one photo I absolutely loved {and which inspired this post} was her belted blazer over a mini dress. The two prints don't "match," but she stuck to rule numero uno for mixing prints.
