looking fly on a dime and tj maxx

A good heel, specifically a patent pump, is a must in every woman's wardrobe. But you know what a fall/winter footwear essential is? The flat boot. When it comes to versatility, there's nothing better than this gem. Rock it with skinny jeans or a fitted dress and it's suitable for a night out or an afternoon of running errands.I wanted to wear the Free People dress I picked up on my recent trip to TJ Maxx but since the frock is short and form fitting, I toned it down a bit with my trusty flat boots from Deb Shops.

thrifty threads, looking fly on a dime

Since I put my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge on hiatus, I've had a few people ask if I've had a chance to shop for new clothes. Like I wrote in a previous post, though I gave up buying anything new for a full year, I didn't feel like I was being deprived of anything, so I didn't have a serious urge to shop for anything non-thrift store related. But I finally changed that last week.
My first purchase was two pairs of earrings from H&M. None of the clothes caught my eye too hard {I'm waiting for the Maison Martin Margiela collection}, but I had to have these earrings. The turquoise pair have a vintage-y feel and the disco ball ones are fun and flashy, just my style.

target and neiman marcus holiday collection

Designer collaborations have been around for years now and we know the drill. An affordable retailer {Target, H&M, Kohl's, etc} teams up with a high end designer {Jason Wu, Versace, etc}, everyone lines up in the wee hours of the morning to scoop everything up before they're sold out and selling for triple the original price on eBay.Well, this holiday season is no different. It seems every major chain is unveiling pieces for those who love high style but don't want to pay full price.First up, the Target + Neiman Marcus holiday collection debuts on December 1 in stores and online. The line features 50 items from top designers like Marchesa, Carolina Herrera and Tracy Reese. Items range from luggage, home decor and of course, clothes. Since it's Target, the price range starts at super affordable {just $7.99}, but this is also a designer collection so the most expensive piece is from Alice + Olivia, a $500 floral print bike.

Today Show fashion segment

Last week I told you guys about my upcoming Today Show appearance. Well, it aired live on Tuesday morning and hopefully you had a chance to watch it. But if not, you can check out the clip below. I also wanted to show you some behind the scenes photos.
The segment was about how women of all ages {they ranged from 30 to 61} and sizes {4 to 12} can rock trends. And since I'm all about a deal, everything was less $100.
Though I love printed garments, some people are a bit curious as to how to actually wear them. Check out the clip below to see various ways you can incorporate the trend in a way that works for you, from tips to mix prints to how to use accessories to jazz up your everyday wardrobe.

If you guys like my Facebook fan page {closing in on 4,000 fan, thanks!} or follow me on Instagram {@LookingFlyonaDime}, then the title of the post should come as no surprise to you. But...I'll be appearing on a segment for The Today Show. I can't tell you how excited I am. The segment airs live {eek} on Tuesday, October 9 during the 9am hour of the show.
This opportunity actually came about after I appeared on The Nate Berkus Show throughout last season.
