Score! Pop-Up Swap

Last weekend I made my way to Brooklyn for the Score! Pop-Up Swap. I had never heard of this event but apparently (almost) everyone else has and I was psyched to go.

The idea behind the swap is pretty simple: bring your unwanted items, other people bring their unwanted items, then you take whatever you want. However, unlike most swaps between friends, this one had an entry fee of $3 (or $5 without RSVP).

I loved the rugged, laid back set up at Brooklyn Yard. Clothes were hung on lines or simply laid out on benches. Home decor, electronics and accessories were in boxes and on tables.

Though the sun was blazing, DJs kept the atmosphere festive and if you got hungry, there was a bar and stands serving German and Mexican food.

As soon as patrons walked in, their items were separated and placed out for shoppers to leaf through. About 10 minutes after I dropped my goods off, I saw them hanging up on a nearby clothes line.

After an hour of digging through goods, I took a break for a light bite to eat. The great thing about the swap’s constant influx of people meant the inventory rapidly changed.

After I had my taco, I made one last round before heading out. I walked away with two shirts, jeans, cargo pants, a pair of flats, two books, a tee shirt and a few knick knack boxes for jewelry.
