Another month down so you know what that means: time for my monthly Thrifty Threads 365 check in.

For the month of April I only spent $40 out of my $50 budget. Well, I can't say I faired so well for May but let me explain. I visited San Francisco for the first time last month and I hit up about half a dozen thrift stores {check out my San Francisco thrift shopping posts here and here}, so my $50 monthly budget quickly went out the window. Well, let me stop delaying and just reveal it.

Thrifty Threads 365, looking fly on a dime

Another month down and another month of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge. If you’re new to the site and don’t know about TT365 {read up about it here}, it’s a year long quest where I can only purchase thrifted clothes and accessories. The only new items I can buy are undergarments {obviously, I’m not going to buy secondhand undies} and I may wear new gifted items. Oh, and did I mention I can only spend $50 a month? Yeah, only 50 bucks.I've consistently stayed under my budget, except for one month, and for April I continued to stay on track. I only spent $40 for the entire month. I've actually been so busy over the past few months that I haven't had time to shop, which is a great thing for my wallet, but it sucks for my closet.Though I prefer dresses and heels, this past month I didn't find any frocks or pumps. But I did score some cute tops, shorts and a purse. Check out a few of my top thrifted picks for the month of April, including an item that only costs $4, but the original price tag says it was worth $120.

Looking Fly on a Dime, Black Blogger Month shoot

Last Friday, I had an amazing opportunity to participate in a video shoot for BlackEnterprise.com. This is the second year they've designated May as Black Blogger Month {check out last year's coverage} and I was honored they wanted me to be a part of it, as well as shoot some footage for the video series. Every weekday a new blogger will be highlighted and they'll share how they made it. I'm not sure what day I'll be live on the Black Enterprise site, but of course I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out what I wore. You already know I had to rock some thrifty, affordable threads. *Sorry for the crappy lighting, we filmed at the 40/40 club and they had the lights down when we weren't filming*

Looking Fly on a Dime, Black Enterprise shoot

Another month down {seriously, how is it April already?} and another month of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge. If you're new to the site and don't know about TT365 {read up about it here}, it's a year long quest where I can only purchase thrifted clothes and accessories. The only new items I can wear are undergarments {obviously, I'm not going to buy secondhand undies} and any gifted clothing I may receive. Oh, and did I mention I can only spend $50 a month? Yeah, only 50 bucks. Though I went over my clothing budget in January, I've been under budget every other month.

For March, I spent...$40. Yay, I didn't go over budget and I managed to snag 10 items. Here are my thrift store scores for the month of March...

Goodwill Purse

I found a hieroglyphics style purse at Goodwill for $5, which I showed off in a what I wore post a few weeks ago. The bag doesn't hold much but the design and gold clasp is simply gorgeous.

I rarely wear flats. I actually feel naked without a heel and I know a lot of petite ladies who feel the same, but sometimes you find a flat shoe or boot that's so amazing, you don't care if it doesn't add a few inches to your height. And sometimes your feet just need a break! Well, that's exactly what happened when I found a pair of zig zag flat boots at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago. The design was so fly, I couldn't pass them up.The weather in NYC has been a bit mild lately and there's nothing I love more than throwing on a pair of comfy shoes, fitted jeans and a jacket for a day of thrifting, brunch or hanging with friends. But of course an outfit doesn't have to be boring simply because it's casual.
