maxxinista, looking fly on a dime
A few weeks ago, TJ Maxx reached out to me with a $500 gift card and of course I was beyond excited. I love thrift shopping because you get tons of bang for your short buck and $500 to spend at an affordable outlet like TJ Maxx meant finding endless cheap chic goodies. I would be like a kid in a fashionable candy store.
As the weather changes and the holiday season approaches, I've been on the hunt for some warm, but cute, dresses and heels. And that's exactly what I found when I hit up the store. I scored close to two dozen pieces!
If you follow me on Instagram or like my Facebook page, then you've already seen some of my awesome finds.

The holiday season is quickly approaching {seriously, Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away}, so that means your favorite stores are rolling out their winter/holiday gear. And one store that just revealed their festive pieces is Mandee. I used to shop at Mandee years ago and finally made me way back to them when I was finding pieces for my Today Show fashion segment. Though many of the clothes and accessories skew towards a younger woman's style, they have tons of basics for women of all ages. And the new holiday pieces are just as eclectic.

target and neiman marcus holiday collection

Designer collaborations have been around for years now and we know the drill. An affordable retailer {Target, H&M, Kohl's, etc} teams up with a high end designer {Jason Wu, Versace, etc}, everyone lines up in the wee hours of the morning to scoop everything up before they're sold out and selling for triple the original price on eBay.Well, this holiday season is no different. It seems every major chain is unveiling pieces for those who love high style but don't want to pay full price.First up, the Target + Neiman Marcus holiday collection debuts on December 1 in stores and online. The line features 50 items from top designers like Marchesa, Carolina Herrera and Tracy Reese. Items range from luggage, home decor and of course, clothes. Since it's Target, the price range starts at super affordable {just $7.99}, but this is also a designer collection so the most expensive piece is from Alice + Olivia, a $500 floral print bike.

Rachel Roy bootsWe all know accessories are a quick, easy way to update your style. But um, some of the hottest bags, shoes and jewelry on the market are also extremely expensive.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Celine bags, but paying a few grand for a purse, is something I can't see doing {oh, and it's way out of my budget}.But during my Pix 11 Savvy Shopper segment, I showed a viewer how to get fly affordable accessories. Naturally we went to Loehmann's for some economically reasonable retail therapy. They have designer pieces at up to 65 percent off, and last fall I snagged an amazing Ellen Tracy cape during their blogger preview event, so I know first hand your dollar can stretch here.

The fashion of the 80s can be a bit scary for some but I tend to embrace the trends of yesteryear. Peplum dresses, acid wash jeans and off the shoulder shirts are still pretty hot.And one childhood trend I really love is jelly shoes. You remember jellies. They were the plastic sandals you wore as a kid. They practically melted on your feet and left you with sweaty toes.Well, jellies are back. Designers like Valentino and Givenchy are selling jelly sandals and flats for close to $300.

Designer Jelly shoesI would never pay that much for a pair of jellies, so I was beyond excited when the folks over a Happy Scarf sent me a pair of their jelly flats. They retail for just $24 {currently on sale for $20} and come in colors like black, pink and electric blue.
