Another month down, so it’s time to recap my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I only thrift shop for clothes and accessories, no new items}. My budget for each month is $50 and how much did I spend for the month of August? *drum roll* Exactly $0. Yup, zero.
I seriously didn’t realize I went the entire month without shopping for clothes until I went to pull out my receipts for the previous month. There was plenty of evidence from dining out {I eat out way too much, trying to curb that}, but not a single receipt from Goodwill, Salvation Army, Housing Works or any secondhand store for a clothes purchase. I thought this had to be a mistake, maybe I threw some receipts away. But after racking my brain, I realized I didn’t buy any clothes for the month.
However,…
I did make several trips to the Salvation Army last month, but those outings didn’t involve clothes. Shopping for new-to-me threads was put on the back burner as I’ve been decorating my new apartment. And the Salv’ is my go-to spot for cheap chic home decor.
I previously showed you my leopard chairs that were $15 each. One sits in the corner of my living room and the other is at my desk. These are the most comfortable chairs ever and the standout leopard pattern is great in my living room, which is largely neutral at the moment.
And I found a glass, ombre lamp as well. Only $10!
As the title of this post reads, this is my eleventh month of the Thrifty Threads 365 challenge. September is the final month of my year long hiatus from buying new clothes. At the start of October, I’ll do a final tally of how much money I spend over the year on clothing.
But the real question is, now what? I first started TT365 in September 2010, completed that challenge and then started back again in October 2011, but with a budget of $50 a month.
So what do you guys think? Should I continue the challenge for another year? Should I switch it up in any way?
