Thrift Store Rewards Cards

Last year I told you guys about the new Goodwill Customer Rewards Card. It’s an awesome piece of plastic that allows you to earn while you shop. All branches of Goodwill are different so the actual rewards may vary, but here in the New York, New Jersey area, when you rack up 100 points {i.e. spend $100}, you earn a $10 off coupon. You simply hand the card to the cashier every time you shop and your points are tallied.

I recently redeemed my $10 off coupon and snagged a great pair of flats from one of my favorite Goodwill locations {220 East 23rd St.}. They were only $10 so I walked away with a pair of Sam Edelman flats for free, these clive ballerina flats originally retailed for $134.

To sign up for a Goodwill Rewards Card, visit your local store or their website {each region has a different form}. And this program isn’t just limited to Goodwill.

Thrift stores across the nation, including chains like Savers and B-Thrifty have rewards programs or VIP cards where you can earn rewards, discounts or coupons. If you frequently visit a chain, you’ll want to sign up for this asap. Although thrift stores are already affordable, you can’t beat savings on top of savings.

Yes! I have a Goodwill card. I’m close to my 100 points :)

  • Urbanglamour

Wow, I need to get one of these!  I was just in a Goodwill today…I wish that they advertised this more….

You know what, you’re right. Goodwill, as much as I love them, doesn’t really advertise the rewards card and they totally should. It’s a great way to save even more money!

  • LocalCeleb

Wow! I had no idea! I need one! I wonder if they offer these in my city :)

Is there a way to find the best thrift stores in your city? I live in Tampa and would love to be able to find the best spots to shop.

I suggest looking for large chains like Goodwill and Salvation Army (just google them and enter your zip code to find a location near you). Also, you should check out The Thrift Shopper , they also have a directory of thrift stores in your area, as well as reviews of them.

Great blog! Saw you on Nate today and just had to check you out! I love thrifting also and follow some of the same “rules” of thrifting that you do. You give such great tips! Keep up the good work!

Wow! Awesome deal on those shoes. I will have to check with my Goodwill store as I have been a regular customer for many years now and have never heard of them having a rewards card. I wonder if it is only for the larger stores.

So dissappointed, the Asheville N.C. stores  do not offer the rewards card and don’t plan on doing so.

Oh, darn. Maybe if you write/tweet your local Goodwill you can put some friendly pressure on them to bring the card to your area :)

I finally got a Value village discount card for Discount Thurday : )…….this is a high five moment for me!

Just saw you on Nate today, and found this…wanted to state i am so excited about my Goodwill card and I noticed that someone said the one in their area does ont offer it..ours did not until Jan.  And if we spend over 20 we get 10 percent off of that purchase…Just and FYI..and another reason to use that card. I plan to tomorrow as the Good wills in our area have their half off sale on the first saturday of each month! :)
