Ready, Set, Thrift! Recap

This past Saturday was my big Ready, Set, Thrift! event at Housing Works Buy the Bag. With more than 60 thrifters on hand, we had a great afternoon of shopping, raffles, games, light bites and laughs. Clothes were just $20 per bag {reduced from $25} and everyone walked away with at least one bag {one shopper had 8!}.
If you missed the event, here’s what went down.
I’ve always been a huge supporter of Housing Works and their mission to end homelessness and HIV/AIDS and the store manager, Alan, gave shoppers a short intro on the shop and their cause.
After introductions were done, it was time to start shopping.
Before the event I curated a few vintage and designer goods for the raffles. Every 20 minutes or so we called two new winners and they had the option to pick the prize of their choice.
The ladies above were the first and last raffle winners and opted for shoes, including Moschino heels and never before worn Calvin Klein flats.
In between shopping, attendees sipped on Dark Horse Wine {Chardonnay, Big Red Blend and Cabernet Sauvignon}, snacked on popchips and filled their belly with mini patties from Golden Krust.
It’s safe to say everyone had a great time. I loved meeting some of my readers, fellow thrift shoppers and seeing everyone walk out with new threads.
I plan to host more events with Housing Works, so stay tuned! And of course if you want a personal thrift shopping tour or style session, be sure to contact me.
