26 Jan What’s In Store: Sears Latest Collections {The Good, the Bad, the Great!}
Last Saturday my afternoon consisted of brunch and a trip to Sears. Yes, Sears. I haven’t been inside one of their stores in at least six months. But now that my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge is over, I’m back to seeing what major department stores have to offer and if they’re worth the price.
Well, there was good and bad. From the high price and low quality of the Kardashian Kollection to the Sears line I wish more people would pay attention to, see what’s in store at Sears!
Let’s start with the not so great. When the Kardashian Kollection debuted at Sears a few years ago, I was immediately turned off by the cheap material and high price {up to $99!}. The line is typically on sale, but even on sale I wouldn’t buy most of it. I decided to try on a few pieces to see what the fit was like.
This crop top and a-line dress was $49 and $59, respectively. No way! I actually really like the top but the skirt didn’t have the best fit {I’m actually holding the waist in the back}.
Another piece I really wanted was this animal print zipper skirt. So chic and sexy! Again, the fit. There was this weird bunching at the midsection that just looked horrible when I sat down. Even a smaller size still had excess material in the middle. I don’t know if that’s how it’s made or if they’ve just been stretched out over time. Either way, fit is everything and I certainly wouldn’t have a Kardashian Kollection piece tailored.
Here’s another Kardashian piece, a $69 polyester and spandex dress. Again, even with the sale {many pieces were up to half off!} I wasn’t willing to spend my coins.
Moving on to the good, Sears’ Metaphor collection. I previously blogged about the line when they sent two pieces for me to review {check out The Only Dress You Need for Every Occasion}. But this was my first time seeing the full line in stores. It’s perfect for workwear and classics every woman needs in her closet, from outerwear, shift dresses and silky tops.
Metaphor was also on sale and the dresses averaged $35 {full price} and the coat below was originally $89 or $99 and marked down to $49.
The line doesn’t have a ton of super bright pieces {y’all know I love color!}, but when there is a huge dose of color, it’s in a classic cut. That’s the perfect way to mix trendy and office appropriate.
The accessory rack had few options but what was left included a few stone necklaces. I feel in love with the pumps. They’re right in trend with the Marsala color and the side cut out adds a bit of edge.
I bought the metallic skirt below. $17!
If you’re looking for fun, trendy gear you won’t be wearing six months from now, a clearance price Kardashian Kollection piece will be a good bet. If you’re in need of basics or work wardrobe gear, go the Metaphor route.
Have you ever tried the Kardashian Kollection or Metaphor line at Sears? What do you consider too expensive at Sears?
