Fashion Hacks to Make Travel Easier and Your Bags Lighter

Taking an adventure can be life changing, but it can also be a pain in the neck, particularly when it comes to packing. And especially if you don’t want to lug a large suitcase and pay checked bag fees.
But keep on reading to see how you can maintain your fly, easy breezy look and pack light. Trust me, you don’t have to sacrifice your style or be hit with baggage fees.
Hopefully you’ve already read how to pack a carry-on and your bag is full of the fashion essentials for your next vacation.
But if you’re anything like me and still want to look cute {even if you’re on a laid back island!}, then the tips below will really help. Here’s what to pack to really maximize your style even when your’e on vacation.
Scarves
One of the most underutilized accessories has to be a scarf. What can’t a scarf do?! Um, pretty much anything. Wear it on the plane to ward off the chill or ball up a heavier scarf to act as a makeshift travel pillow. Also, it can be a great sarong for your beach vacay and even dress up your basic jeans and tee. Check out the video below to see all the ways you can tie a scarf/sarong into a dress!

1 Dress, 3 Ways
Dresses are just so multifunctional and when you really maximize one, you can get at least three styles out of a single frock. Your choice of dress will vary based on the climate you’re traveling to, but the premise remains the same. One dress can equal {at least!} three different looks.
*Wear it as a dress: self explanatory
*Wear it as a top: layer a skirt over the dress {works best for dresses that aren’t too long}
*Wear it as a skirt: layer a shirt on top of the dress, with an optional belt
Slip-On Sneakers
Hands down, slip-on sneakers are a must when traveling, especially if you’re making your way through the airport. There’s no heel so you don’t have to worry about wobbling through the terminals and the easy in and out design of the shoe makes them a breeze when going through security. When I went to Jamaica last year, I almost came out of my sandals when I had to do a serious power walk to catch my connecting flight. The slip-on sneakers are fashionable and functional. And they’re great for when you reach your destination if you have a day of sightseeing or a laid back adventure.
Carry-On Backup Outfits
You already know I abide by the carry-on only rule, but if you decide to check your bags, even your carry-on should have at least two outfits. If your checked luggage goes missing, you want to have a few backups clothing options. This can be two shirts to coordinate with a single pair of pants or shorts, one dress and two to three pairs of underwear. This way you’ll have some cute backups until your bag arrives.
Sunglasses and Lipstick
Maybe you want to carry your makeup case, but if you’re anything like me, that’s the last thing you want to do. To keep your look pretty minimal, opt for your favorite lipstick and sunglasses. Sunnies hide a multitude of sins {hello, under eye circles!} and also protects your eyes from the rays. Throw on a bit of concealer or BB cream for a night out and you’re good to go without looking too heavily made up.
