28 Oct Thrifty Threads: The Art of Layering for Fall
Fall is in full swing and it’s been pretty cold on the east coast. While I’m not ready to whip out my winter coat, I’m all about layering fun fall pieces. And my idea of fun involved a rugged leather jacket and a faux fur vest {both thrifted!}. They’re from the Goodwill Outlet {$1.69/pound of clothing}.
Jackets with leather sleeves are super trendy and instead of going out and buying one, I decided to layer my vest over the leather jacket. Some people actually thought it was a one piece and asked me where I got my fur jacket with leather sleeves.
I love a good stripe, so my Kohl’s black and white dress {it’s not available yet} is sheer perfection. Oh, and it has pockets! Don’t you just love a dress with pockets!? And a-line dresses are perfect for women of all sizes, as it fits at the waist and slightly flares out.
And you can’t have fall layering without a pair of tights. I forget where I snagged these oxblood tights, but you can always find a colorful and/or textured pair at Macy’s, H&M or Loehmann’s for a few bucks. And I love how the tights match the foliage. And my Pink & Pepper pumps from Loehmann’s are my go to shoes for comfort and style.
So have a little fun with layering this season. You’ll stay warm and look hot!
