17 Jul Thrifty Threads: One Thrift Store Dress, Multiple Ways
Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.
There’s nothing I love more than wearing a single garment multiple ways. And that’s exactly what I have with this printed dress. Well, it actually started out as a fishtail skirt {see the original post in 2010 when I had a tailor transform it from a skirt to a dress}. I immediately noticed the bold pattern when I saw it in a bin at the Goodwill Outlet. I wasn’t feeling the skirt, but knew I could have a tailor convert it into a strapless dress. I’ve worn it as a dress and now I’m rocking it as a skirt with the addition of a t-shirt and belt {both thrifted!}.
A basic tee and gold belt I scored from my last Salvation Army thrift haul rounded out the look. Accessories included lucite sunglasses, chunky bangles I’ve had for years and a woven purse from a mom and pop thrift shop.
While all of my outfit was thrifted, the shoes were new, courtesy of ShoeDazzle. The GX by Gwen Stefani collection has a ton of amazing options and I’m absolutely obsessed with these sandals. While I typically stray away from white shoes, these get a stylish pass.
Hitting the thrift shop for your style needs is already affordable, but it’s even better when you can take one item and wear it countless ways. From a fishtail skirt to a strapless dress to a skirt, I’d say this printed frock was a great find!
