20 Nov Thrifty Threads 365: Mixing Plaid Prints {$20 Outfit!}
Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.
While we all know that mixing prints is easy to do {just have at least one cohesive color in both patterns}, there’s another way to have fun by mixing and matching. Wearing the same print in different hues can amp up any look. That can mean red polka dots with black polka dots or blue stripes with orange stripes. For my latest thrifty threads look, I went with plaid on plaid.
Oh, and the entire look is thrifted from head to toe and less than $20.
I don’t remember where I purchased each individual piece, but the vintage Vittadini Sport dress has been in my closet for several months and for some reason, this was my first time wearing it. Instead of grabbing a pair of black pumps, I took my plaid Charlotte Russe pumps for a spin. Plaid on plaid just might be my new go-to.
Though the red dress provided more than enough color, I always feel like you can never be colorful enough. This Braemar cashmere sweater added an additional layer of warmth and complimented the dress, while cobalt drop earrings from Rocksbox {a subscription box just for accessories; stay tuned for a full review} are classy and fun.
I’m so glad I didn’t grab the obvious red or black pumps and instead went for plaid times two. Fashion should be fun and encourage you to step out of what you’re used to. And it’s easy to experiment when the threads are so affordable!
