30 Jul Thrifty Threads: The $13 H&M Dress for Day or Night
What typically happens when I do an on-air fashion segment is I return the clothing. Well, during my last Today Show appearance, I loved a dress so much, I went back to the store and bought it.
While I gravitate towards bold prints and structured garments, sometimes it’s the most basic pieces that have a huge impact. That’s what happened with this H&M tank dress that was just $12.95. It goes with everything and has been in heavy rotation in my closet for the past two months.
For the Today segment, I had two of my models in a black version of the dress, which I originally bought. But I loved the black one so much, I went back and copped it in hot pink. I’m not a huge fan of pink, but I love this dress. It hugs the figure without being too tight and the calf length hem makes it a bit conservative.
For today’s look, I threw on my thrifted leopard duster and ShoeDazzle strappy sandals. I almost wore this exact outfit in my last Thrifty Threads post. But instead of the dress, I had a pair of jeans and t-shirt. This goes to show you can easily mix and match a few key pieces in your closet and have a fresh look each time.
Also, with such an in-your-face-color, I kept the accessories to a minimum and went for a nude lipstick.
This dress can also be dressed down with flat sandals, sneakers, a jean jacket or throw a loose tank top over it to balance out the fitted bottom. Seriously, you can wear it so many ways.
I can’t seem to find this tank dress online {this is the closest H&M version that’s currently on sale for $7!} but check your local H&M store. Look in the basics section with the cotton tanks and tees. Also, H&M is having a ton of sales on summer items, so this is the perfect time to shop.
What’s your go-to summer dress that’s perfect for every occasion? Do you have a wardrobe staple you mix and match with other items in your closet? Have you purchased anything recently from the H&M sales?
