15 Jul Thrifty Threads – Gypsy Woman
If you need to know one thing about me {besides my love of thrifting}, it’s that I hate the heat. Like, I seriously hate it unless there’s a nearby body of water for me to cool off in. And unfortunately for me, it’s been pretty hot in NYC and pretty much throughout the country. One morning the Weather Channel described the temps as “dangerous and oppressive.” Geez!
On days when you’re practically sweating before you even step foot out of the door, what to wear can be a serious dilemma. I knew I’d be out all day last weekend at the Brooklyn Flea market and then I was heading straight to my homie Danielle’s {i.e. The Style & Beauty Doctor} Tweet Your Face Off party, so I wanted a look that was comfortable but still cute of course.
Cue my “hippy skirt” from Udelco vintage warehouse. It has a funky, 70s, gypsy feel to it and the free flowing fabric lets the skin breathe.
With such a bold skirt, I kept my accessories pretty minimal: necklace, bangles, sunglasses, studded sandals and a 10 pound oversized bag that I felt the need to carry unnecessary items in.

Breakdown:
Tanks: Target and Strawberry // Skirt: Udelco vintage warehouse, $7 // Necklace: Betsey Johnson // Sunglasses: Nine West // Sandals: Strawberry // Bangles: flea market and My Roommate’s Kloset // Bag: Urban Outfitters
Week 45 of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I only buy second-hand clothing} is down. Only 7 more weeks to go!

Posted at 17:35h, 15 JulyHey Patrice! I noticed that Housing Works $25 Bag sale in LIC is on 7/23. Is there any chance your readers can meet up with you? My little sister loves to go thrift shopping, so I was hoping to take her there and introduce her to a thrift-shopping enthusiast, like herself

Posted at 18:20h, 15 JulyHey Suzie,
I’m going to be running around during the sale (filming some stuff for the blog), but if you see me, definitely say hi and introduce me to your sister.
I plan on having an official meet up at one of the next sales, stay tuned!
Oh, and thanks for calling me a “thrift shopping enthusiast” 🙂

Posted at 19:30h, 15 JulyVery cute skirt. Have you ever heard of stylepantry.com? Your skirt reminds me of something the blogger on that site might wear. You should check her out, her style is also very inspiring.
