12 May Thrifty Threads: The Easy Way to Incorporate Statement Pieces in Your Wardrobe
Don’t you just love clothes with movement? Maybe it’s a flowy dress that blows in the wind or anything with sequins and beading. For me, it’s this fringe miniskirt. I don’t have anything like it in my closet and when I copped it from H&M last year {just $25!} during a holiday sale, I knew she’d be a stand out piece.
Hmm, but exactly how do you wear statement garments like fringe or sequins? Answer: it’s easier than you think!
The easiest way to rock a statement piece is to anchor it with the classics or neutrals in your closet. And that’s exactly what I did. The fringe skirt is the real showstopper so I kept everything else simple with a thrifted denim shirt, vintage earrings and my elephant purse I scored from a vendor at Essence Fest in New Orleans a few years ago.
And my shoes were pretty simple as well. These 7 Dials wedges are the perfect combo of fashion and function. They’re about three inches and uber-comfortable {seriously, I walk in them all day} and the faux snakeskin adds a bit of texture but is still neutral and wearable with anything.
I’m absolutely in love with this skirt and can’t wait to keep twirling in it!
