09 Sep Thrifty Threads: Chic Boyfriend Jeans
I’ve never been a fan of boyfriend jeans. If I must do denim, I’m a proud member of team skinny jeans {I own more than a dozen pairs}. Though I never full on hated boyfriend jeans, the relaxed, semi-sloppy fit just isn’t my thing, especially since I’m only 5’2. But I always encourage you guys to step out of your style box, I decided to take my own advice.
I’m a huge fan of Kohl’s and when they contacted me about a jean campaign for their Rock & Republic line, I jumped at the opportunity. I did something out of the ordinary and selected a pair of boyfriend jeans to style.
And let me tell you, I’m so glad I did. I was fearful of how they’d fit {saggy butt jeans are dreadful!}, but I was surprised they worked perfectly with my body. The splatter boyfriend jean {currently on sale for less than $30!} has a more relaxed fit than skinny jeans and it’s tapered at the leg. I like to think of these as skinny jeans with a little wiggle room in the thighs. I’m wearing a size 4, but even if I went up a size, they still wouldn’t be overly slouchy.
To continue with the casual chic look, I paired the jeans with a Rock & Republic sheer top with faux leather details and a Dana Buchman tote, to give a bit of color. And these lucite LC Lauren Conrad sunglasses are my go-to when I’m tired and/or want to distract from a makeup free face. Sunnies are the accessories that hide a multitude of sins.
The fit of the jeans was on point but I also loved the style: paint splatter and distressed. To toughen them up even more, I cut a few extra holes {the top tears on the left and right thighs}. And I can’t forget the Simply Vera Vera Wang cut out booties. When I don’t want to do a stiletto or flat, a platform bootie gives comfort and height without being overly dressy.
Tune in next week when I show you how I styled two other pairs of Rock & Republic for Kohl’s jeans.
How do you style your favorite pair of jeans? And what’s your preferred style: skinny, boyfriend, straight, etc.?
Disclosure: Kohl’s provided me with the jeans and a gift card to complete the look. This in no way shaped my opinion {but you know that already}.
