22 Oct Thrifty Threads – Chambray x Denim
My sartorial mood constantly fluctuates between casual chic and super dressy. Right now, I’m feeling pretty casual but of course I have to add a few dressy elements.
During my last visit to the Salvation Army I wandered over to the men’s section and found a great chambray shirt. Though chambray was a huge trend for fall, it remains timeless and is a great addition to any wardrobe. I loved the pale blue color and large fit.
With the cool autumn weather in NYC, I needed a jacket but I wanted something that was a bit fitted to balance out the oversized shirt. I’ve had this denim jacket for years and it was one of the first thrifted pieces I ever purchased. With constant wear and washing, it’s taken on a distressed, vintage-y look, which I love.
With the addition of some leggings and boots, my outfit was complete.
Breakdown:
Shirt: Gap, thrifted for $2
Jacket: thrifted, forgot the price
Tights: $5, mom and pop shop in NJ
Boots: Payless, $30
Necklaces: courtesy of Spring Shoes and grandma’s closet
Ring: Urban Outfitters, $5
Earrings: Forever 21, $4
Purse: NYC street vendor, $15
Week seven of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge (a full year where I only buy second-hand clothing) is down. Only 45 more weeks to go!
