13 Mar Thrifty Threads 365 – Vintage Glam
Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details check the original post here.
As mentioned earlier this week, emerald green is having a serious moment.
And as I also mentioned, I barely wear green. But I finally remembered this vintage dress I scored a few years ago and it was finally time to take it out of the depths of my closet.
If you think major cities are the only places you can score at thrift stores, I’m here to tell you that’s so not true. I found this Pat Richards dress a few years ago while visiting family in Ohio and it was just $8. The store was in a small town but had a ton of amazing finds {be sure to check out my previous post: Benefits of Thrift Shopping in a Small Town}.
This was my first time wearing the dress and I absolutely fell in love with it. I felt like I was floating on air.
Since the dress is so glam and feminine, I added some tough elements like an Old Navy leather jacket {thrifted from the Goodwill Outlet} and a metallic, faux snakeskin clutch from TJ Maxx. Pleats always have such a ladylike feel and once a breeze came along, the dress looked like it was floating.
Besides the metallic clutch, my other accessories were limited to dainty rings and my fave Prima Donna statement necklace.
Emerald green is an on trend hue, but we all know that with fashion’s cyclical style, what’s old will always be on trend. And don’t be so quick to overlook those small thrift shops or teeny towns. You never know what you’ll find!
If you’re participating in Thrifty Threads 365, don’t forget to tag your pics online with #ThriftyThreads365.
How do you incorporate vintage pieces in your contemporary wardrobe? Is emerald green a color you’re excited to try? Do you tend to find more amazing, thrifted pieces in big cities or smaller towns?

Posted at 01:56h, 16 MarchI have to say, I love this color on you! I’m not a big fan of green either but I’ve been seeing emerald and mint green a lot lately and it’s changing my mind. I especially love the leather jacket touch! It did “toughen” up the look, making the outfit perfect for day activities. Just take off the jacket and put on some sexy heels and you’d be ready for a hot date in the evening!
