03 Apr Thrifty Threads 365: 3 Month Progress Report
Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.
Can you believe we’re already into the second quarter of 2014?! As usual, time has gone by way too fast, but sometimes it seems pretty slow, especially since I’ve given up buying new clothes thanks to my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {full year of no new clothes, just thrifted!}.
I can honestly say I’ve held up pretty well over the last three months and haven’t felt the need to shop for new clothes, well, not really…
I absolutely adore People StyleWatch and while reading the latest issue, I pretty much wanted everything in the magazine! But I had to curb the need to hit a department store and just added some spring must haves to my thrift shopping wish list.
Also, I try to look in my closet at all of the great clothes and accessories I’ve thrifted and then that reminds me that I don’t have to rely on new threads. I already have a closet full of new-to-me pieces that cost just a few bucks.
From winter chic, weather appropriate threads like my red Salvation Army booties {check my Winter Chic outfit post} to my vintage Balenciaga booties and Uniqlo jumpsuit {Statement Pieces post}.
Even when spring showers hit, I just stepped into a head to toe thrifted look to stay dry and look cute {Rainy Day Chic post}.
As the temps finally started to warm up {temporarily!}, I’ve been all about rocking everything from an $8 vintage floor grazing gown {Vintage Glam post} to simple leggings, a vintage Mickey sweatshirt and wedges {Casual Weekend Wear outfit}.
If you’re wondering what pieces I bought for the month of March, well, I didn’t buy anything. That’s right, for March I didn’t do any thrifting at all. If you missed it, you can check out my January and February thrift shopping hauls {here and here}. I scored dresses, chunky sweaters and more, which I finally got around to washing a few weeks ago.
And of course I received a few gifted pieces from Kohl’s for hosting their Google+ hangout on spring style.
Though I did have a few moments of weakness, the Thrifty Threads 365 challenge is going strong and I’m ready for another three months. Hopefully I can try to squeeze some thrift shopping in next week, so stay tuned for my haul. I’m really looking for structured dresses, crop tops and colorful, vintage button downs.
Thank you guys so much for all of your support during TT365. If you’re participating in Thrifty Threads 365, be sure to keep tagging your pics on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and use the hashtag #ThriftyThreads365. Just yesterday on Instagram, we hit 400 posts on the hashtag.
How have you been surviving Thrifty Threads 365? Do you have a knockout item you’ve thrifted so far? Of my looks above, what’s been your favorite look so far?
