14 Jun Thriftspiration: How One Mom Keeps a Budget Without Sacrificing Style
Thriftspiration is a weekly series that puts a spotlight on readers who share their secondhand shopping tips and fun ways to style thrifted finds.
When and why did you start thrift shopping?
I started thrifting when I had my daughter, Selah. We had no idea the sex of the baby and didn’t have much clothing for her when she was born. Family and friends gave us lots of girl clothes, but she was out growing them too quickly! So my hubby encouraged me to hit the local Salvation Army and I quickly discovered lots of awesome baby clothes. I’m now forever a thrifty shopper.

What three words would you use to describe your style?
Classy. Modest. Bold.
Classy. Modest. Bold.
How did you style your outfit {explain how you put together at least one of the photos you submitted: how/why you mixed the colors, what was your inspiration, what styling tips do you have}?
My styling tips are basic: highlight your best body feature, have fun with prints, colors and accessories. Don’t be strict with your style and be comfortable in your own skin. And always stay classy!

What’s your best thrift store score {a standout garment or accessory you absolutely love or a cheap designer find}?
There really are so many things I could choose from but I’d have to say my thrifted vintage leather coach purses/cross-body’s all under $20 and in great condition!

What are your favorite stores in your area?
- Goodwill -Always neat, I ALWAYS find awesome things there in all departments for a great price, and the savings I get with my Goodwill members card is nice too.
- Savers – Always neat and the times I shop there the most is when they have their fabulous 50% deals on special days, especially around holidays.
- Clothes Mentor -That’s where I find 99.9% of name brand handbags and wallets for way less!
What reactions do you get after telling people your outfit is thrifted?
People are speechless and shocked especially when they find out the price I paid for my thrifted name brand finds.
