What's not to love about vintage clothing? Instead of looking like a carbon copy, you have a unique piece that people are sure to swoon over. But what some people don't love about it is the patience required to dig in bins or leaf through racks.

So, imagine my amazement when I stumbled upon Ballyhoo Vintage. It's an online-only vintage shop with everything you could ever want {men's and women's fashion, accessories, magazines, gift ideas, etc.}. The company was founded in 1988 but they're new to me! Besides an amazing selection of pieces from the 30s to 70s, they're affordable. Some of the more elaborate frocks are in the $100 range, but most items average $50. And each piece has an in depth description of the era it's from and condition.

I could seriously go broke just ordering the accessories. Brooches and pendant necklaces make me happy.

Though I love national thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army, I also love finding little boutiques in the city. I find these are the best places to discover unique finds and the crowds aren't as insane. After my Salvation Army thrift haul, I headed uptown to Finderz Keeperz Vintage Boutique {121 West 116th St}. I was amazed at this place. The store's super small but packs a major vintage punch. They've been in Harlem for five years, I've been in Harlem for three years and we're just now discovering one another. Such a shame but better late than never.The owners were extremely helpful and super friendly. If you're looking for something in particular, they'll be glad to pull it off the racks or check the back {where they have even more vintage finds!}.If you're a lover of sequins, then this is the place for you. Entire racks were devoted to sequin dresses, tops and cardigans.

Yesterday I showed you some of the L.A. thrift stores I visited and now it’s time for the vintage shops I made my way to.Once again I was on Magnolia and noticed two vintage stores next to one another, Hubba Hubba {3220 W Magnolia} and Swift Vintage Shoppe {3212 W Magnolia}. I thought it must be destiny for me to stop in on both locations since they’re next door, but unfortunately, neither one is open on Mondays. Sigh.

That didn’t stop me from peeking through the glass to try to see what they had to offer. I was beautiful lace numbers, full dresses and bold colors.

We kept it moving until we made our way to Wasteland in Burbank. With four locations in California, customers sell their gently worn designer goods and vintage pieces.

As you know, I was in Los Angeles last week for a taping of Oprah’s post Oscars show and of course I had to get some thrift shopping in. During my last visit to LA, I hit up Out of the Closet and a Goodwill and this time around I ventured to another Goodwill and a little thrift store in Burbank.I was amazed at how many thrift stores are in LA, ranging from the big chains to mom and pop shops. On Magnolia Boulevard alone, my cheap chic eyes saw about a half dozen thrift options.During the first day of my trip we just drove around and to my delight, we spotted a Goodwill and an In-N- Out across the street from one another. Goodwill always makes my eyes light up and I’m a true east coast girl so I was excited to finally try  the burgers at In-N-Out {sidenote: I didn’t think the food was that great. *shrug*}.We checked out the Goodwill {342 San Fernando Road} and it was pretty massive and organized, like most locations. It had tons of clothing, accessories and furniture.The day that I visited, yellow tag items were 50 percent off, so I clearly started looking for pieces with a yellow tag. I didn’t find a ton of stuff until I made my way to the dress rack which was an entire wall of frocks. I found a few pieces and ultimately chose a free flowing Asos dress. I don’t typically like anything with butterflies on them but this backless, halter style is going to be perfect for spring and summer.

{it didn’t have a yellow tag so I paid the “full” price of $7.99.}
