Another month down, so it’s time to recap my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I only thrift shop for clothes and accessories, no new items}. My budget for each month is $50 and how much did I spend for the month of August? *drum roll* Exactly $0. Yup, zero.
I seriously didn't realize I went the entire month without shopping for clothes until I went to pull out my receipts for the previous month. There was plenty of evidence from dining out {I eat out way too much, trying to curb that}, but not a single receipt from Goodwill, Salvation Army, Housing Works or any secondhand store for a clothes purchase. I thought this had to be a mistake, maybe I threw some receipts away. But after racking my brain, I realized I didn't buy any clothes for the month.However,...I frequently post my thrift store scores on the blog, Instagram {user: LookingFlyonaDime} and Facebook and the one statement I hear over and over again is, "you always find the best stuff" or I'm asked the question, "how do you find the best stuff?"
Though I've done a ton of posts on thrift shopping 101, thrift shopping commandments, etc, I'll let you in on the three secret tips I utilize to always** find great stuff. Well, they're really not secret since I'm telling you and honestly, anyone can utilize them for a great thrifting trip.Accessories are every girl's BFF. They're the easiest way to dress up an outfit but it can also be tricky when it comes to storing them, especially if you have loads of baubles. Necklaces can get tangled, earrings can get misplaced and your collection can start looking a bit cluttered and messy. Tons of jewelry storage solutions are on the market but some can be kinda expensive. I have my eye on the Gold & Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet by QVC but it's almost $200. Yikes!
Instead, I've found a cheap, fun way that lets me display my jewels.
