winter-outfit-what-i-wore-this-winter-looking-fly-on-a-dime It's cold in New York. Let me add it's cold and there's snow on the ground. Though we dodged a blizzard this week, it's still pretty frigid out. A few weeks ago I told you about the importance of a statement winter coat and it's the only garment you need to buy this season.Well, I'll add winter accessories to the list as well. These are the add-ons that will keep you warm and chic! Oh, and since my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge is over, I finally went shopping and bought my first brand new item in a year!

Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.

As much as I love leggings, I tend to have the same dilemma every winter. Where are my tights? I mean, leggings are great when you want to pair them with an oversized shirt and some flats or boots, but what about tights on those cold days you want to wear a dress and heels?
So needless to say I was super excited when I heard about L'eggs Convert-a-Tight. With a simple slip of a flap of material, they go from tights to footless leggings in a matter of seconds.
Of course I had to pair them with a few of my favorite thrift store finds and my favorite coat for a warm and cozy winter look.

To say that it's been cold would be a serious understatement. With temperatures below zero and snow that never seems to cease, the last thing on my mind was wearing something cute or teetering around in heels, but...I found an outfit that was fashionable and functional.
My cold days aren't complete without my Ellen Tracy cape {get it here in black} I scored from Loehmann's two years ago. Seriously, investing in outerwear is a must, especially if you live in a colder climate.
Every other garment I rocked was straight from my favorite thrift stores: vintage Balenciaga booties {less than $1 from Housing Works Buy the Bag}, purse, vintage blouse, beaded jacket and Uniqlo jumpsuit from the Salvation Army. They all came together for a look that combined fashion and function.

What I wore to fashion week, Loehmann's
I had a general idea of what I would wear during Fashion Week. When I know I have a lot of running around to do and when the temps are in the teens, I usually stick with my trusty skinny jeans and a few statement pieces. So I went for a mixture of new threads {studded top and neon and animal print shoes} from Loehmann's and some thrifted add-ons, like my Hudson jeans from the Housing Works Buy the Bag sale and vintage clip-on earrings.
But then the dilemma moved to what to wear over my outfit? A blah coat can totally ruin any look, but I knew exactly what I could rock for a standout style.
