22 Apr Travel on a Dime: 3 Ways to Pack Fashion Essentials in a Single Carry-On
I’m heading to Belize this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! If you know me, then you know I can count on one hand {and still have fingers left over!} the times I’ve checked a bag while flying.
It’s all about sticking to a few rules when packing a single carry-on bag. The goal is to bring the essentials and have enough room in your bag for souvenirs. Here’s how to do it!
One Pieces Save Space and Time
When I say a one piece, I’m not referring to swimwear {more on that below!}. A skirt or jeans means you have to bring along an accompanying top. However, a dress, lightweight jumpsuit or romper is a one and done piece that requires no mixing and matching and takes up less space in your suitcase. You can seriously pack 10 individual pieces and have 30+ style combos, more than enough for a week long trip.

Do You Really Need Heels?
I have to admit that heels make me feel super confident, sexy and sassy, but they don’t have a place in your carry-on if you’ll be on the beach, doing a ton of sight-seeing or lounging by the pool. And heels can take up a ton of space in any bag! That’s where fancy flats come in. While a basic pair of sandals works for the day, opt for flats or sandals with embellishments and bold colors for a fun night out. And if you absolutely positively need a pair of heels during summer travel, limit it to a strappy nude or gold heel, which is wearable with any and every thing.
Have a Color Theme
Neutrals can pretty much go with anything, but if you’re going for color, stick with similar hues, which make it easy to wear the pieces together. I do this all the time with my bikinis. I totally just realized all of my suits have pink, orange, red and/or black in them. This means I can wear a single bikini top with different bottoms and vice versa. So essentially I have a different bikini every day of vacation! This same mixing and matching applies to tops, bottoms, dresses, etc.

Bonus: Neutrals Don’t Have to Be Boring
If you choose to skip a color theme and just go with neutrals, don’t think that that means your look will be uninteresting. A fun neckline, asymmetrical hem or cut outs add a fun element! And don’t forget a statement necklace or two and thin bangles mixed in with a few chunky pieces.

I’ll be using all of these tips when I pack in a few days! Since I’ll be on vacay, I won’t have any new posts next week, but I’ll upload a new YouTube video, so be sure to subscribe to my channel and follow along on Instagram to see all of my vacation pics!
