17 Mar 3 Fresh, Inexpensive Ways to Remix Your Go-To Spring Jackets
Spring is just a few days away and I couldn’t be happier! It’s my favorite season because it’s not too hot and not too cold. Since it’s that in-between weather, the right choice of outerwear is so important.
But you probably have a leather jacket you wear every spring, right? Or maybe a denim jacket or trench coat?
Below are a few ways to update your go-to spring jackets and make them look new and fresh for the upcoming season.
Layer Your Leather
I feel like everyone has a black leather jacket {real or faux!}. Or at least they should. It’s super versatile whether you have a more classic style or edgier look. Another great thing about a leather jacket is it’s perfect for layering. And that’s why it’s so ideal for spring, when the temps can be 40 degrees in the morning and close to 70 before the day’s over. I prefer a more fitted leather, but I always allow a little wiggle room so I can layer a chunky sweater and button down shirt under it. The layers not only keep you warmer without having to wear a heavier coat, but they also add a bit more interest and texture to your look.

Remix Your Trench
A good trench coat is the forever on trend spring outerwear that will never go out of style. And because it’s so classic, that means you can find the cut at any shop or even thrift store, which is where I came across this beige trench. So how do you update a trench coat for spring? It’s as simple as the belt. Yup, I’m sure your trench coat came with a belt, but swap it out and switch it up to create a new look with the same coat. It really is that simple. A thick black patent belt or even a thin printed can help to define your waist and create a figure flattering a-line style.

Denim Jacket DIY
And finally, if there’s one piece of spring outerwear that everyone has it’s the jean jacket. If you’re anything like me, you’ve had your denim jacket for years and it’s seriously itching to be replaced or updated. One quick fix is to add pins, patches or brooches. Enamel pins and patches are having a major moment right now, so you can find tons of them {like the hilarious Tina Belcher enamel pin or Inigo Montoya patch} for just a few bucks. Also, I like to use vintage brooches that I find at thrift shops or even some from my grandmother’s jewelry box. Just have fun and add them to your cuff, pocket or anywhere. There’s no wrong way to do it!

So cheers to spring: sunny, breezy days and extended hours of daylight.

I feel like those are the most common types of jackets that most people have. They’re such classics and never go out of style!

Posted at 20:04h, 29 MarchTerrific post as always, from another NYC frugal fashionista thrifter!
I should have asked you this on a previous post, but what is the brand of those opaque rather shiny black tights you wear in some of your posts?
I’ve spent much time and money on tights that either are streaked, run fast or not black enough.
Thanks!

I’m not sure which tights you’re referring to, i can’t think of any shiny black tights. But if you find the post and want to comment there, then I can respond or the answer might be linked in the post.
