3 Ways to Remix Your Favorite Dress

*taps mic* Oh hi, hello there. Yes, I know it’s been forever since I’ve posted. Actually it’s exactly three months. I’ll get to the why a bit later, including sharing what the new direction of Looking Fly on a Dime will be. In the meantime…

I think we can all agree that wearing an item of clothing once and then never again is a bit silly. Well, I mean unless it’s formal wear that’s solely intended for a special occasion. But for every day wear, it’s all about remixing your favorite items in a new and even unexpected way.

I made a recent appearance on New York Live to show how easy it is to remix your favorite dress and make it look completely new.

The first step to mastering the wardrobe remix is to have a base. For the three ladies I styled during the segment, the base was a dress. One was sparkly and great for the holiday, another neutral and trendy, and the final was a classic sheath.

For the strapless Wild Fable Target dress {above} I wanted to make the sparkly stunner a bit more casual. And the natural choice was to pair it with jeans and do my tuck and roll style hack.

The standout features of the Haute Rogue dress are the pleats and bell sleeves. So even when remixing the look, I wanted those aspect to still shine, so naturally I added a Tobi blazer vest to the equation.

And finally, the New York & Company sheath dress {which is currently on sale for half off!} is a perfect option for a classy affair but if there’s one print I love that automatically spices anything up? It would have to be leopard and the Boohoo skirt was a perfect addition. Anytime you’re layering, just make sure the items aren’t adding bulk to your frame.
