31 Aug Looking Fly on a Dime 3 Year Blogiversary
Do you know what today is? *in my Tony Toni Tone voice* Well, today isn’t the big day but tomorrow, September 1, is Looking Fly on a Dime’s third anniversary.
I’ve previously mentioned I started this site after getting laid off from my job at a fashion magazine. The past three years have been anything but easy, however I’m glad I stuck it out. This little site has grown beyond my imagination and has opened countless doors.
From doing The Nate Berkus Show throughout the second season…
To my gig at Pix 11 News as the Savvy Shopper reporter {the job was a direct result of this website}…
I’ve had an awesome time.
I didn’t have money growing up and like most kids, I wanted to fit in with everyone else who had the latest and best threads. And as an adult working in the fashion industry, I was surrounded by and writing about clothes I could never afford. But that’s when I realized style/self confidence and money are no correlated.
My goal was never to land on television but to inspire people and really drive home the idea that no matter how limited your funds are, it never determines your style. Whether you choose to go the thrift shopping route or raid the clearance racks at a local department store, you can be a fly chick!
Thank you guys for your continued support with the blog as well as my outside endeavors. Hopefully you had a chance to catch my WE tv fashion segments which aired yesterday {if you missed them, I’ll post a link soon. Below is a little peek at me discussing Burlington Coat Factory‘s cheap chic dresses!}.
{thanks to @typhaniestewart for the screen grab}
Cheers to more to come,
Patrice
