06 Oct Recap: My Amazon Style Code Live Segment {How to Wear Velvet}
Last night I had the pleasure of appearing on Amazon Style Code Live. If you don’t know SCL, it’s a fashion and beauty show you can catch every weeknight on amazon.com.
And what was I talking about? All things velvet! Which was so ironic because last week I rocked a thrifted velvet dress before I even knew I’d be on the show.
See the segment and behind the scenes photos below!
Let’s back up for a second. Velvet! It’s a material that most people shy away from or think it’s a luxe fabric you only wear around the holiday season. 1. Velvet is easily wearable and 2. it’s not just for a festive party.
From pants to a blazer to a baby doll dress, I showed three different ways you can wear velvet. My absolute favorite look had to be the 7 for All Mankind flare velvet pants that are a perfect alternative to the black skinny jeans you’re probably worn a million times!
During rehearsal {photo above}, I wore a $10 vintage dress I scored from TracyChambers Vintage. I rocked this throughout summer and can easily wear it into fall with tights and booties. You can check out more behind the scenes action if you act fast and watch my Snapchat {PatriceJWill}!
But for the actual showtime…I couldn’t just talk about the velvet trend without actually wearing it myself! LATTORI was kind enough to outfit me in this sleeveless maxi. You know I love a great dress {it’s the perfect “one and done”} and LATTORI is a line dedicated to fabulous dresses. Just dresses! And the maxi I chose had little swatches of velvet. From a distance you couldn’t really see the velvet but once you got closer, the rich details were evident. This is another way to wear velvet without feeling too over the top! And I had to add a vintage belt to complete the look.
The dress was about three or four inches too long, so I used my quick styling hack to instantly hem it without a needle, thread or tape.
