20 Nov How to Style Your Thrift Store Clothes
Last week I showed you my massive Salvation Army thrift store haul and now it’s time to put everything together. After you thrift an amazing piece, sometimes the next battle is, how do I wear it?
Well, whether your style is more glam or casual, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 to rock your thrifted clothes and accessories in a way that’s perfect for any occasion.
One of my favorite items I scored last week was a Uniqlo jumpsuit. Everything about it is perfection, including the cotton material which makes it wearable throughout the year. A strapless jumpsuit like this is made work appropriate with a blazer, plaid pumps {similar here} and colorful purse. *every item in the photo was thrifted from the Salvation Army on 46th St and Housing Works Buy the Bag.
I’m a skinny jeans type of girl, especially on a casual day. And they look great against an oversized sweater or button down {this cashmere one is Banana Republic via Goodwill Outlet}. You can always, always find button downs or chunky sweaters at a thrift store. And don’t be afraid to venture to the men’s department for some bright and printed options. Instead of a pair of flats or sneakers, flat boots combine fashion and function. The vintage boots were thrifted from the Salv for less than 10 bucks and have a fun Missoni-like zigzag pattern!
Besides the jumpsuit, my favorite purchase from last week’s Salvation Army trip was this Amsale gown for $10. Hmm, I really don’t have anywhere special to wear it {yet!}, but when I do, it can go perfectly with my Ellen Tracy cape {get it here}. And adding a fur collar {thrifted for less than $1} isn’t just an extra layer of warmth, but serves up serious glam points. The 90s purse is thanks to my cousin. Remember, you should always raid your mom’s closet. Or your aunt’s, cousin’s, grandma’s, etc. Their wardrobes can be full of clothes and accessories that are suddenly chic.
How would you style some of the thrifted pieces above? Have you ever brought something home and then struggled with how to wear it?

Posted at 12:05h, 07 Decemberlove! I thought that was a Hermes too lol, but it definitely passes for one. I’m sure you could wear the Amsale to a wedding or gala type event. These thrift store posts have me really amped to find a holiday outfit at Good Will!
