25 Feb The Fashion Hack to Instantly Hem Your Dress
I admit it, I’m lazy. Well, when it comes to having clothes tailored, I’m lazy. I have the best intentions of getting something tailored and I just never end up doing it. Am I the only one??
That’s why I found a way to instantly hem a dress by a few inches without making a visit to the tailor. Check out the short video below to see how you can do the same! This is perfect if you’re in a pinch or like me, and rarely use a tailor.
You might remember this printed vintage dress from my last visit to Udelco warehouse. It was just 7 bucks…but I wasn’t so sure about the length.
However, I decided to play around with the dress to make it work for my shape and the look I saw going for. Again, it didn’t require a trip to the tailor, but just the use of an accessory we all have.
This trick works best on dresses that need to be shortened by just a few inches and with material that’s not too bulky. Also, the choice of belt should be thin enough that you don’t see it under the folded top layer of the dress, but if you want the belt to show, go for it! And…you can even wear a wide/wide-ish belt to cover the folded material so it looks totally seamless.
