Family Dollar Fabulous Event: Best in Affordable Fashion and Beauty

Two weeks ago I made my way to Atlanta for their annual Fabulous event, where the store’s vendors talk about the products they have in store. From hair to makeup to fashion, there more close to two dozen brands on hand and they all had amazing products that are sold at Family Dollar.
Below are a few of my favorite moments from the event, as well as products I think you might love.
Just Be…Fashion Line
I previously blogged about Family Dollar’s clothing line, Just Be…, and I even did a video review of the collection. During the Fabulous event I had a chance to see the fall line, which has an athleisure vibe. Think tons of loose flowy cardigans and leggings with quilted details. And to close out the Fabulous event, I modeled a look from the Just Be…line with style expert Lloyd Boston moderating. It was an all black ensemble {off the shoulder top and leggings} that was perfect for a laid back night or even the airport! The line is in stores now and items are less than $15. I even used one of the Just Be…clutches during my Today Show segment this summer.
Luster’s Hair
You know those hair products you grew up using and you kinda stopped using them once you created your own beauty routine? Yeah, that’s me with Luster’s. I used the Pink Lotion for yearrrs when I had relaxed hair. So I was surprised when I chatted with the Luster’s team and they told us their cult-favorite product, S-Curl Activator, is still a big seller. Yes, that S-Curl Activator, the one people used back in the day for their jheri curls. I was super curious and tried the activator and it really did make my hair feel super soft and moisturized after washing it {I gushed over the product on Snapchat @PatriceJWill}. And I used the Pink Glosser to add a bit of sheen to my hair. So far, I’m loving both items and would have never thought to try them.
L.A. Colors Lashes
After last year’s Fabulous event, I was turned on to L.A. Colors cosmetics. You can see my review of their awesome $3 eyeshadow primer. And I’m also a big fan of the nail polish and lip crayons, which are less than $3 at Family Dollar. But this time around I had my lashes and brows done with the L.A. Colors products. The makeup artist filled my brows with the Brow Kit and gave me a full set of lashes thanks to the Deluxe False Eyelashes Kit. I’m one of those people who always has trouble applying lashes. Since these strips are just a few dollars, you can practice on them without investing major cash. And the look was glam, without being over the top.
Fing’rs Press-On Nails
Confession time: my nails are rarely done. I mean, they’re always trimmed and buffed, but it’s rare that they’re polished. Not because I don’t like polish, but I hate waiting for my nails to dry so they always get smudged. If you’ve been paying attention to nail trends, then you know press ons are huge again. Like, really big! And Fing’rs brand is a part of the wave. The press ons feature bold colors and funky designs. They come pre-glued, so just press and go. My nails were applied in five minutes, no exaggeration. I loved the design, but after an hour, I noticed a few of the nails lifting from my natural nail. I simply pressed them back down and they were okay for a few. These don’t seem to be nails that will last for days {in spite of what the packaging says}, but if you need a quick look for a night out, they’re amazing. And I think the next time I try them I’ll also apply nail glue to extend the wear.
U by Kotex Click
No one likes talking about periods, but hey, they’re necessary. When I visited the Kotex booth, they had a fun, interactive game show set up that was entertaining and informative. And they gave us a package of Kotex Clicks. These tampons come in bright packaging and more importantly, a compact size {about two inches shorter than your average tampon!}, so they’re perfect for an clutch, pocket or even concealing it in your hand. I packed these on my recent trip to Jamaica and they were perfect.
And of course I rocked some of my thrifty threads and affordable gems during the trip, including this vintage green dress for the party on the last night.

It was a jam-packed trip to Atlanta for Family Dollar’s Fabulous event, but I had an amazing time. I know you guys will love one or all of the products above, which you can find at your local Family Dollar.
Have you tried any of the products mentioned? What’s your go-to affordable beauty buy?
This is a sponsored post by Family Dollar. As usual, all thoughts are my own.

Just discovered your blog and LOVE the concept! You have such great style and are proving that it can be achieved no matter what your budget may be. I never pay retail unless I can guarantee that the item will last me for years and years, work with everything in my closet, and never go out of style. Very tough test to pass! Keep up the great work 🙂
