20 Oct Decor on a Dime: Decorating with Vintage Suitcases
You remember those vintage suitcases I bought for $5 at a garage sale this summer?
Until now I’ve used them to prop up my book cover frame, but this weekend I decided to switch it up a bit. In last week’s Links to Save By, I showed you decorating ideas using suitcases and I was inspired by one of the projects.
My new way of decorating with my vintage cases takes up minimal space and even doubles as storage. Oh, and it took just minutes to do.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve already seen the project, but here are some close ups.
Sometimes corners in your bedroom, living room or anywhere tend to go overlooked, but the square and rectangular shape of the suitcases make them perfect for a corner situation. The bottom case actually has some of my summer clothes that I know I won’t be wearing anytime soon. So not only is it cute decoration, but it’s practical storage.
Also, I used some of my favorite vintage gems and thrifted goods to decorate the top case. The books are some of my favorite thrifted reads, the purses {minus the dome shaped one} and jewelry on the trays are my grandmother’s. Other secondhand pieces include the camera and deck of cards trays.
There’s little you can’t do with vintage suitcases. Stack them a bit higher to create a nightstand or even turn one into a pet bed. Or whatever your imagination can think of. For more inspiration, check out 20 DIY Vintage Suitcase Decorating Ideas.
