30 Jun Thrifty Threads: Cut Off Shorts Meet Vintage
Cut off shorts: I typically only wear them to the beach or on vacation but I switched it up a bit this time.
I took my go-to vacay shorts {I thrifted the jeans for $2 and then cut them myself} and paired them with a vintage find for a cool summer vibe.
If you’re trying to make something look less casual, jazz it up with anything colorful or statement making. It’s the rule of opposites: pair something super casual with something glam or semi-glam.
It was time for me to whip out this red vintage garment. It’s actually a plus size shirt, but I rocked it as a duster! One of the tips I offer in my book {Looking Fly on a Dime: How to Find Fabulous Fashion at Any Thrift Shop & Make the Cheap Look Chic} is to shop other sections of the store. No, I’m not plus size but I found an amazing plus garment I knew could and would work perfectly in my wardrobe.
I let the duster be the colorful statement piece and kept everything else pretty simple, with a neutral tank top and sandals from Crocs {who knew Crocs made cute shoes?!}
The accessories were limited to two items but both packed a punch. This super long and beaded necklace is thrifted from Housing Works and my adorable purse is another thrift find, via Buffalo Exchange.
This can totally be a beach look with the duster acting as a cover up! Don’t you just love clothes that work for so many occasions? Also, tomorrow {July 1} is my bday so I’m having 48 hours of treat yo self {thrifting, eats, fun, etc.}, so be sure to follow along on Snap {PatriceJWill}
Have you ever worn a garment in a way different than its intended use? What was your last thrift store score?

Crazy thing is, my legs are far from my favorite, but I said, why not?! 🙂
