I've seen the half moon manicure for a while now and I finally decided to give it a try. And I have to tell you, it was super easy, even for a clutz like myself. The only item I had to go out and purchase was the page reinforcers {$2} to create the half moon shape. You remember page reinforcers from your elementary school days, right? They kept your torn pages from falling out of your Trapper Keeper. What you'll need: base and top coat, page reinforcers, two shades of polish {I used Wet n Wild's Sparked and Sally Hansen's Racey Rouge}.

I've mentioned the Housing Works $20 All You Can Stuff sale before {check out what I snagged on my last visit: I stuffed 38 items in my bag for $20}. And it's here again. If you're in NYC, Housing Works is having another sale on Saturday, 1/29.A little background on the sale: you enter a large room full of thrifted treasures, dig through bins and whatever you can stuff in a brown paper bag {the kind you'd get at the grocery store} is yours for just $20. And there's no limit to the number of bags you can buy.Amazing, right? I've walked away from these sales with a Theory military jacket, Chanel pumps and Prada bag.Click more to read up on some tips for shopping the massive sale.

Chicken. It's super affordable and can be prepared tons of different ways but most people get stuck in a rut in their preparation of the meat. I checked out Kitchen Daily for a new way to enjoy my favorite white meat and I landed upon a video for Chicken Marsala, which I'd never tried before. The ingredients were pretty simple and affordable and it looked easy to prepare, so I gave it a shot.

About a month ago I sampled some treats from Georgetown Cupcake. Maybe you've heard of the shop, they have their own show on TLC, DC Cupcakes. In addition to the everyday flavors {vanilla, carrot cake, red velvet, etc}, they have tons of seasonal flavors as well. I'm not the biggest fan of gingerbread but I had to try the Gingerbread cupcake, which is described as "gingerbread cupcake topped with a cinnamon-infused cream cheese frosting topped with a fondant gingerbread man."

It. Was. Amazing. The frosting was sweet without being too sweet and the gingerbread flavor wasn't overpowering. However, at $29 a dozen, they're a rare splurge. Being the thrifty chick I am, I decided to try my hand at creating the cupcake at home. I got a little help with the batter from the fabulous Betty Crocker, but the cream cheese frosting was whipped up from scratch.
