Last week I had the opportunity to work with Loehmann's again {I was their Fashion Week blog ambassador} and I jumped at the chance. When I'm not thrifting, I refuse to pay full retail so Loehmann's is a perfect fit, as they offer up to 65 percent off department store prices.They selected a few bloggers and style experts to participate in their private Friends and Family events throughout the NYC store. The shops shut down early for select customers to enjoy additional discounts and a fun party atmosphere.I was joined by Misha of The Fab Chick and Annika of Leather & Lacquer. We made our way to the New Hyde Park location to assist customers in styling their new threads.

DSC_0599I can't wait for spring to arrive on Wednesday. Seriously, I'm over the cold NYC weather. Though some people tend to wear more drab colors in the fall and winter, I'm all about wearing my brightest threads any time of the year. And I think I actually wear even bolder tones during colder months just to perk my mood up.This past weekend, I threw on a ton of blue, red, pink and colors in between for a fun look. My vintage Mickey sweatshirt and Laundry by Shelli Segal trench are both from Housing Works Buy the Bag at just $1 each.Check out this week's Thrifty Threads. And I'll even show you how to give your classic trench coat a little update.

spring trends, affordable spring trends{Joe Fresh boxy top and color denim with ankle zipper, $29 each}

If you're not familiar with Joe Fresh, don't worry, you're not alone. The Canadian retailer opened up shop in NYC in late 2011 and offered colorful, affordable pieces. I like to compare it to a mash up of H&M {in terms of prices and amazing sales} and Express {perfect mix of casual and work appropriate gear}.Now thanks to a collaboration with JCPenney, this is the first time Joe Fresh will be available nationwide. Starting tomorrow, March 15, JCP will be stocking select pieces from Joe Fresh. And instead of the "designer collaborations" that quickly come and go, the partnership with Joe Fresh is expected to be an ongoing thing, available in close to 700 JCPenney stores and online.If you're not in New York or New Jersey where there's access to a Joe Fresh stand alone store, this collaboration is perfect, especially if you're in the market for affordable spring and summer styles.Take a look at some Joe Fresh pieces you'll find at JCPenney.

how to wear black and whiteLast week I showed you the 5 wardrobe staples to buy at thrift stores, and this week it's all about the trends. Every season the runways of New York, Paris and London dictate what's in and what's out for the coming months. And though everyone clamors for what's "new," some of these trends are simply revamped classics that are just having a moment. Like seriously, when is leather not on trend?And this is a great thing if you're in to {or want to get in to thrifting}. If you're not willing to invest in a trend, the secondhand store is a great option, but also, since fashion is so cyclical, you'll find many of the "new" trends at your Goodwill, Salvation Army or your thrift store of choice.Check out three easy to find and easy to wear trends you can score from a thrift store.
