For as long as I've been blogging {two years} and as long as I've been thrift store shopping {at least five years}, I get the same questions related to thrifting. I've done thrift shopping frequently asked questions before but I'm compiling the answers again for anyone who's new to the blog as well as adding some additional info.Q: How do I find a good thrift store in my area? A: Thrift stores aren’t created equally, so it’s really a matter of trial and error. It takes time to find the store that’s best for you. Take a drive or walk around your area to scope out secondhand shops, ask friends for referrals and visit websites for national chains like Salvation Army and Goodwill to find a location near you. And be sure to check out The Thrift Shopper, it’s a national directory of resale shops.

thrifty threads, looking fly on a dime Fall can be a tricky time to dress. Or at least it has been as of lately. One day it's a brisk 45 degrees and you're bundled up and the next it's in the low 60s and you only have to step out of the house wearing a blazer. And this week has been no different.

Though the weather didn't require a heavy coat, it was a little too chilly for a bear leg. So I whipped out the wardrobe staples ever woman needs: leather coat and tights.Everything in my outfit was thrifted, except the tights and booties.

We all know that accessories are the quickest way to update a look and a great winter accessory is the scarf. When the people at Happy Scarf contacted me about sending over some samples and doing a giveaway, I jumped at the opportunity. I love throwing a scarf on over or under a jacket or even in the office over a simple cardigan or blazer. It provides warmth and dresses up your existing wardrobe. Two of the scarves I chose were the Zebra Crossing and Centered Polka Dot.

As soon as I took them out of the box I loved how soft and long they were. Measuring more than five feet long, that meant I could wrap them a variety of ways.I like the infinity look so I just wrapped the polka dot scarf around my neck a few times.

Looking Fly on a Dime on Nate Berkus show

Hopefully by now you guys caught my second appearance on The Nate Berkus Show {I'll post a link soon for those who may have missed it}.For those who saw the program, you asked what stores I went to for the $25 makeovers and the thrifted designer looks. Of course I went to my favorite stores in NYC: Salvation Army on West 46th St, Goodwill on East 23rd St. and Buffalo Exchange on West 26th St. The $1 Gucci top I found was from the Goodwill Outlet where clothing is just $1.69 per pound. And the next question you wanted to know was what I wore and how I snagged an Armani blazer for 83 cents.

Looking Fly on a Dime on Nate Berkus show A few weeks ago I announced on Twitter and Facebook that I was asked to come back to The Nate Berkus Show. Well, the show airs this Friday, November 11.

I was beyond excited when the producers asked me to return. When I first appeared on the show in September {view a clip from my first appearance here}, I recreated designer looks with thrifted finds and gave three women a $25 fashion makeover. And this time around...I'm doing the same thing! And this time around...I stumped the audience again. They couldn't tell which look was high end and which came from the local thrift store. One designer outfit retailed for close to $1,500 and I thrifted a nearly identical look for just 30 bucks!
